A4P Bay Area: Tuesday, January 29 * Aspire Capital Campaign for Princeton: Post-Reception Gathering. The University is hosting a reception to kick-off the Aspire Capital Campaign on January 29 at the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco at 6pm. We're convening an informal gathering of A4P members afterwards, beginning at around 8:15 or when the general program ends. Also, on Saturday, February 2 * Lunar New Year Event: The Asian American Alumni Association of Princeton (A4P) invite all Bay Area alumni to celebrate the Lunar New Year in San Francisco on Saturday, February 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. for dim sum. A4P Boston: A4P in Boston will convene at China Pearl Restaurant on 2/2 for a dim sum celebration of the Lunar New Year. Contact Cathy Lin Snyder '95 at csnyder@wsnyder.org for more information.
A4P SoCal: Join us Saturday February 9th as A4P SoCal begins 2008 by celebrating the Lunar New Year 4706, the Year of the Rat. We'll meet at the Chinese American Museum just south of Los Angeles Chinatown at 11:00am, tour with museum educator Jane Cheung (to be arranged), then walk over to the Chinese New Year Festival where we can buy lunch at one of the many varied booths. The Festival area also has tents with a sampling of business and community organizations. The Festival is but one of a weekend long set of activities organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles. If that is not enough for you, settle in for the 109th Annual Golden Dragon Parade, the second longest running parade in the greater Los Angeles area, second only to the Rose Parade. We'll pick a convenient spot and review the festivities which start at 2pm. Feel to join us anywhere along the way! A4P Chicago: For the Lunar New Year, we have a dim sum brunch planned at the Phoenix Restaurant in Chicago's Chinatown on 2131 S. Archer. It will be on Saturday, February 23, at 11 am. A4P Bay Area: along with the Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni, we are co-sponsoring a guided tour of the Asian Art Museum to coincide with the "Court Arts of the Ming Dynasty" exhibit. It's a traveling exhibit that will be in San Francisco from June 27-Sept. 1, 2008; Rose Li has arranged for a docent-led tour (by Cheeyun Kwon *99 Curator of Korean Art of the Asian Art Museum), followed by a post-tour gathering. A4P will be having its annual panel discussion at 9:00 a.m. on the Saturday of Reunions weekend—please pencil this time in your calendars, and stay tuned for more details. On another front, A4P would like to thank the 40 alums who answered our call for volunteers to interview for the Princeton Schools Committee. Your time and efforts towards ensuring the diversity of interviewers are much appreciated!
