Latest News
Dear Asian American Alumni of Princeton:
Here at Princeton, your old stomping grounds, our brief warm respite from the bitterness of winter has vanished…and we again find ourselves subjected to that oh-so-unrecognizable blend of rain/slush/snow. But the freezing weather didn't bother the Superbowl-bound Giants, so who are we to complain? So while the weather outside may be frightful, the A4P-sponsored events are so very delightful!
We are thrilled to announce new A4P committees in Chicago and Southern California, so for those of you who are interested in helping out these committees, please let us know. And if you don't have a committee in your region and are interested in getting involved, we'd love to hear from you!
And please read about these upcoming events.

Updates and Upcoming Events
Dear Asian American Alums of Princeton:
On the heels of A4P's election of new officers and a board of governors, our community has really ramped up the activity! This email details some recently completed events, as well as several upcoming ones, all of them sponsored by the Asian American Alumni Association of Princeton (A4P).
NYC has been a hotbed of activity, but would you expect anything less from the top of the food chain? Most recently, Yi Foo's ultra-hip A4P happy hour on the evening of 11/7 was a big hit and promises to be only the first of many such gatherings.
Back at Old Nassau the NJ contingent led by Mo Chen held a fantastic lecture on 11/10 as part of the Fall Football Lecture series, featuring Professor Anne Cheng '85 discussing major intellectual and artistic issues in Asian American Studies today. The event was well-attended by both alumni/ae and current students, and resulted in a lively discussion immediately after Professor Cheng's engrossing lecture. Next up for the Jersey crowd will be an after work social gathering at Andre Liu '91's house in Princeton on December 7th. Please email axl888@alumni.princeton.edu for more details.
On October 20th, the A4P Bay Area chapter conducted a brunch with Gordan Chang '70, head of Stanford's Asian American Studies program, and a roundtable discussion about the history of Asian American Studies. Entitled "The Rise, Fall, and Rise of Asian American Studies: Where are We Today?" Gordon talked about the evolution of Asian American Studies as a discipline and the culture and politics of how it has developed among elite universities. The conversation included how the environment for such courses has changed at Princeton over the years. When Gordon Chang '70 arrived at Princeton, he was only one of 5 Asian Americans among a class of 800 men. His scholarship explores the historical connections between race and ethnicity in America and foreign relations. Recently published books include Chinese American Voices and Asian Americans and Politics: An Exploration.
And please read about these upcoming events.
Sincerely,
