MISSION

The mission of the Asian American Alumni Association of Princeton (A4P) is to support the community of Princeton alumni in advancing Asian-American and Asian issues in student life, University affairs, personal and professional development, and community service

HISTORY

The Asian Alumni of Princeton (as it was known then), was first established in the late 1970s as a collaboration between students and alumni. One of the first events was a career conference that brought together students and alumni in exploring professional opportunities. As that initial group of students graduated, a critical mass of young alumni created an active organization with a newsletter and mailing list, annual gatherings in New York City and at Reunions, and began to get involved with issues such as undergraduate admissions.

Since then, the organization has gone through several stages of development. One of the lessons we have learned from the history of our organization is the importance of creating a governance structure and infrastructure that will be sustainable beyond the involvement of any one of its committed leaders. Over the past several years, a group of alumni from several generations have gathered together to further build the organization. Our current Governors span from the Class of 1940 to the Class of 2001, with several individuals each from the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
